Carbon Dioxide Laser Dentistry (Solea®)
A Change for the Happier
The carbon dioxide laser offers an anesthesia-free technology in delivering dental treatment that traditionally requires the use of local anesthetics, aka numbing. This technology replaces the dental drill for many procedures in our practice. Our doctors have completed the course of training using this technology, and they will work closely with your children to determine if this anesthesia-free treatment option is best for them.
What Is Solea?
Solea is the first carbon dioxide dental laser system cleared by the FDA for hard and soft tissue procedures. It was developed in Boston, Massachusetts, by Convergent Dental, based on research conducted at the University of California School of Dentistry. Solea offers a unique wavelength guided by sophisticated computers to deliver virtually painless dental procedures for both teeth and gums from simple cavities to complex surgeries. The experience is so unique that you will find it hard to believe you were just at a dental appointment.
Why Solea?
Many hard tissue procedures, such as crowns and fillings, can now be done with virtually no anesthesia, and some soft tissue procedures can be done with minor or virtually no bleeding. This is a major leap forward in dentistry, as we are able to execute multiple procedures in a single appointment without having to numb your children. Children are now able to receive the care they need in a shorter time and without feeling uncomfortably numb for hours. They could eat immediately afterward or return to school with minimal downtime or discomfort.
